Spring at Neoumanist

Dear donors,

On behalf of Neoumanist Association we would like to thank you for the support and help you offered to our social project.

Due to you support it is possible that the center provides qualitative services to its beneficiaries.

During the last three month there center was visited 4165 times, were prepared  4449  lunches, 891 showers and 2715 kg of laundry were washed.

We used to celebrate International days. Today is International Women Day and we would like to congratulate all ladies  on this day. Yesterday we had a special party for our grannies. We invited a group of children that sang and danced and brought joy and happiness.

In Moldova at the beginning of the spring is celebrated  Martisor.  The name Martisor is a diminutive of March It is believed that the person who wears the red and white string would enjoy a prosperous and healthy year. Our beneficiaries worked hard and did a lot of Martisors. In this report we add iMartisor made by our grannies.

Soon in April we will start a new project called Adoption Program, because of the current financial situation we will be force to close Rasarit at the end of 2017. After 14 years of successful service. This cannot happen!

In case Sunrise have to close this means: no 15,000 meals, no 4,000 bathhouse visit, no 2000 washes, no care

no attention, no social contact, for the 250 elderly people who use Sunrise. They will fall back into their social isolation and poverty....

We intend to organize a fundraising campaign to collect money for supporting all the activities of Day Care Center for 2018.

The elderly can come to the center, have warm meals, shower and laundry services, socialization activities for the whole year, 3 times a week only  for 25 euro or 26.50 $ per month.

On sixth of march the project was visited by  Skye Keene-Babcock in the field traveler of GlobalGiving platform. It was a good and nice  experience.

We really hope we will have a nice collaboration in future!

Help Elderly to face the winter!

Dear Donors,

Thank you very much for your support! Thank you for your loyality towards our organisation! Our elderly are feeling your help!

Donating 25 $ a month, you are helping one elderly to beneffit of all services provided by the Day Care Center: Shower, Laundry, Lunch and Social Activities.

This is very important for elderly, especialy in winter time, when the Center become not only a place of meeting with each other, but a place to survive the cold weather. Most of the elderly do not have heating or do not have money to pay for it. That's why in their homes it is very cold. They are coming to the day care center to get warm, both physicaly and morally.

Year after year, the situation for elderly didn’t change. Elderly in Moldova continue to pass an everyday Survival Test.  It is a cruel test, especially for elderly from rural areas.

Elders of Moldova continue to receive pensions below the subsistence minimum.

National Bureau of Statistics informs that in the first semester of 2016 minimum of subsistence constituted in average 1813,7 lei (about 86 EUR) per month/ per person, increasing in comparison with the first semester of 2015 by 5,2%.

The average pension for retirement at 01.01.2016 amounted to 1191.8 lei, about 56 EUR. In the rural areas the pension level it is a lot lower than the average in urban areas. This amount it is not enougth to cover the basic needs.

These data confirm that Neoumanist role is vital for the elderly to survive, to have a dignified retirement period. The Rasarit Day Care Center continues to offer basic services, so needed and in the same time to offer the elderly a family, a place where to go and feel important to someone and to feel the moral warmth as well as the physical one, very important for them.

Together with the elderly we hope, that our Day Care Center will continue to support the elderly in need! This will be possible due to the generous hearts of our donors!

Donations are vital for vulnerable elderly!

The elderly at home
The elderly at home

Dear donors, thank you for your donations and your support.

The money you have donated were used to continue our activities and to provide services for elderly in need from Moldova!

Starting May 2016, our Day Care Center remained without one of our main donors, due to the fact that their internal regulations are not allowing to sponsor the same organization more than a certain number of years. This can lead to stopping the day care center's activity or reducing the number of services provided or the number of elderly that can benefit of them.

It was supposed that in time our Government will take the responsibility for elderly. Unfortunately it won't happen in the next years. There are no money in the state budget for projects and activities for elderly. The state can't afford even to pay the obligatory contributions, the pensions are still very small:  around 40-50 dollars a month. That is far not enough for basic needs, the elderly are exposed to poverty. That's why our projects are still vital for the elderly.

Our aim is to lift all of our pensioners out of extreme poverty conditions so that they can participate fully in community life while providing them the basic needs: a warm meal, laundry services and the possibility to have a shower. Most of the elderly in Moldova are exposed to poverty. The pensions are barely enough for covering the basic needs, in the same time, most of the elderly do not have possibility to do personal hygiene at home (they do not have running water or hot water and even they do not have money for shampoo or soap).

The money we get from the donations on GlobalGiving, are going directly to support the vulnerable elderly that are coming to the day care center, offering them a warm meal, laundry and bath services.

Our projects aim to provide the basic needs and in the same time the elderly will enjoy variety of activities (we are also buying materials for hand-made activities) while building new friendships and to discuss different topics, psychology, hygiene and aiming to remember the elderly that they can be active citizens in the community. Services provided by Neoumanist Association in all our 4 projects are helping elderly to have a dignified retirement period.

Please consider telling to your friends about the elderly in need from Moldova, share please our GlobalGiving project: “Help 250+ Vulnerable Elderly in Moldova” on your social pages!
