THE OPEN HOUSE WAS A HIT

On September 8, we had the first meeting with the volunteer’s team in order to plan ahead the OPEN HOUSE that took at Maria Eugenia Puig Lince School at Bastion Popular.  We developed team work and we shared ideas how to show to the parents, teachers and community, what the students have learned during this entire programme against drug use.

On September 22, we had a meeting directly with all the students in order to assign the topics each group will expose in the Open House. We went an extra mille together and passed out flyers to invite all the community to this important event, considering it will be the culmination of the project in this school.

The joy was contagious and we all felt the emotion and at the same time nerves of the students, since the day would come where they were going to be the main actors of the event. We worked together helping them making the banners they will expose with each group.

THE BIG DAY HAS FINALLY ARRIVED…OCTOBER 21!

The Open House was a huge success! The hot and sunny day didn’t seem to slow us down, and we couldn’t be more proud to show to all the parents, teachers and community the progress of 250 students so far.

The event was named “PREVENTION AGAINST DRUGS = LIFE”, during 2 hours all the students exposed different topics at the schoolyard. We saw those expectant faces waiting the explanation of each student, turning to happiness faces. As a result, the students and community built a strengthened sense of pride and self-esteem.

As a gesture of love and gratitude, we gifted a can (500 liters) of paint to make improvements in the school.

This project was inspired to save children and teenagers from substances abuse. But also this dream comes true, because YOU made it possible!

We feel so privilege because with God all things are possible, that is the reason why our big THANK YOU is for HIM!

Our dream was born, the volunteers team brought life to the RIGHT NOW project…  Through this project, we all became a family, and each of them that worked on this project took so much ownership! Thank you so much!

Israel Foundation through the CDC Community Development Center touched many young lives and helped enrich their future to become strong, loving, kindhearted, smart leaders for the tomorrow.

DREAMING BIG FOR GOD PLANS!

When we are willing to follow God dreams, he shows us the way!

After the terrible earthquake of April 2016, we met the emerging needs of the people affected as a priority. In the short term, we were awareness that it was imperative to make a sustained work, in which it was necessary to empower and teach people different kinds of skills so they can become self-sustaining.

With that desire in our hearts, we decided to make a site inspection to some places at  Manabi province, firmly believing that this dream we had reflected on paper would become reality. At that point, we had no idea where we could build a Community Development Center, we had no land and we didn't know how to start.

Suddenly, the doors were opened and we got to know people who were leading us until in the blink of an eye, that big dream was taking shape, what we saw unattainable, was becoming reality.

It was so, on October 15th, 2016 we officially inaugurated the opening of the CDC Community Development Center in Bahia de Caraquez in the province of Manabi and it is located in an area called Leonidas Plaza where 300 poorer families live, they were highly affected by the earthquake.

At the opening we had approximately 100 adults and 50 children, the program began at 14h00 with the cutting of the ribbon where we counted with the presence of the community leader and local authorities.

The volunteer Sic Carlos Sarmiento, give a workshop called “Openness to Change” where the community was integrated working in teams of 10, creating banners and exposing their themes. It was a fun activity where we could hear what their expectations are.

While that happened inside the CDC, a group of volunteers worked on the outside with the children, teaching them to make a Christmas craft and painting their faces. After the event, we provide a snack and the community was eager to take the next workshop.

When we put our plans in God's hands, he makes them prosper!

WINNERS!!

"Although there may be tragedy in your life, there's always a possibility to triumph. It doesn't matter who you are, where you come from. The ability to triumph begins with you. Always” Oprah Winfrey

We are in the final phase of the project, for this reason we believe important to strengthen self-esteem and empowerment of 230 students in a very attract mode “WINNERS DO NOT USE DRUGS”, which is an attitude from the inside out, with the ability to say NO. Self-esteem is about how we value ourselves, our perceptions and beliefs in who we are and what we are capable of.

On Wednesday, August 3, we had the training workshop with the volunteers team, the topic was: “WINNERS” given by the psychologist Nelly Baquerizo.

She explained to them how to do a SPECIAL SURVEY to the students, so they can be able to visualize what they have learned through the entire project during this 2015-2016.

On Wednesday, August 17, our volunteer’s team carries out the workshop “WINNERS” at “Maria Eugenia Puig Lince” School, with a very good response from the children and teenagers.

“A parent’s primary job is to prepare their child for life in the real world. They must prepare their children from the start to be strong, healthy, live independently and make good choices”

This is the reason why we believe that the project must be integral, including teachers, community and parents. On Friday, August 20, the Project Coordinator and Dr Nelly Baquerizo conducted the “Parent's School”, with an assistance of 100 parents approximately; this informative talk was very well received by them.

The topic was “Different types of drugs and tips for prevention”, many appear to have been motivated to ask about this social problem and different situations they are facing with their children at home.

We like to thank every person who has been part of this project, which started on a paper and today we are near to culminate it, May God continue to bless your life and give you the desires of your heart.
