Well, unfortunately haven’t really progressed since the last report. This is entirely to do with simply being too busy to concentrate on fundraising. We received 68 new birds since the last project report, 37 of which are confiscated or surrendered parrots now in long-term rehab care (approx. 2 years) which is a huge commitment on food, care and enclosure upkeep, not to mention medical care and the costs of the release process when the time comes.
We are not complaining! The majority of these birds are already 100% better off than they were in the pet trade, and in time will be released back into their natural habitat to boost the wild populations, as they should.
But, we still need help. A lot of help. So if you could share our fundraiser here on Global Giving, maybe consider us for you annual tax-deductible donation, we would be so very grateful.
Thank you for your continuing support, look out for our new fundraising drive, and we hope to hear from you soon!

If you’re reading this then you are interested in birds, education and preventing poaching. Although there has been no movement on the project, we at Belize Bird Rescue have been as busy as usual with our outreach and public awareness initiatives. But sadly we have been neglecting our fundraisers! That said, we are making our remaining materials last, being frugal with them and making the kids work for their rewards with some great educational games and puzzles.
We’re keeping the project active as we hope to step up our awareness as we go into the new semester in the local schools. Our book sales of Zack and Kiki are doing quite well and we hope to get more income from this to eventually purchase a quantity to give away in schools.
Thank you for reading, and please consider donating to this or one of our other campaigns. Every Dollar Matters!
We are very sorry to report that the waterbird enclosure has not progressed in the last three months.
However, exciting news!! We are busy selling our children’s book (Zack & Kiki's Frst Big Adventure) and we may secure the funds through those sales to purchase the steel required to finish the aviary framework. We then have some reclaimed wire set aside that we hope will finish the construction. So please be patient with us.
The steel will be $420US: it may take us a few more months, but we will get there! Thank you again for your generous support and hope that the next project report brings great news in time for pelican season in December.
