We Are Grateful For Your Support!

January 21, 2021

Dear Partner,

As always, we are grateful for your support towards our Restoration Project Resource Center. Because of your partnership and support, despite the impacts of the pandemic, we were able to continue to provide services.

We would be remised to say that the pandemic did not affect delivery of our services. But your support enabled us devise alternative ways of reaching our constituents. Instead of in-person classes, we resorted to online. So all our classes were delivered via ZOOM. At first, it looked far-reaching and impossible, especially with the computer hardware/software and internet requirements. Although a lot of program participants could not take the classes, but we had a sizeable number that completed classes in Computer/Microsoft Office, Financial Literacy, Data Entry, Coding (Python), and Business Coaching (ongoing). A total of 24 program participants graduated in December of 2020. Of these, 4 people took part in our paid internship program where they were given opportunity to increase their speed in data entry, work in an actual office setting and learn more about corporate work. After one month of internship, each of them received a $200 stipend from us as an incentive for completion of the data entry class and the internship. One of the interns was hired by our corporate partners after the completion of the internship. We also had a virtual graduation ceremony to celebrate our program graduates. Some of our board members, all classes instructors and some of the program graduates were in attendance. It was an emotional even, hearing the graduates express their satisfaction about the classes and their gratitude for being given the opportunity to learn even in these precarious times.

We are excited to share some comments of graduates. We would attached a screen shot graduation attendees if they did not have their names on it. However, some comments from end of class surveys:

When asked to state 3 things that you liked most about the class and why?

(1)  the way they help for people for better job and opportunity”,

(2)  “it is free and they teach u a lot about coding and python”, and

(3)  “the way of teaching and the environment was comfortable”

When asked: Do you have any comments/suggestion to help improve this class?

“Everything was perfect and good but the class was short. It is better if we continue the class”.

As is our tradition, we take these suggestions seriously. We are planning to increase the duration of our classes, and or have them in two or three parts. This will require more funding. We hope that when the time comes, we can count on you, our partner, for that additional support.

Remember, there is power in numbers! Your support helps our community who is already disenfranchised and lacks the ability to compete with other members of society for the limited economic resources, which is made even more difficult to reach because of the COVID-19 pandemic, build the courage to compete keenly for economic resources.

The value of the skills we impact is far-reaching. Lives of girls and women are being changed. Although, the number may be a fraction of those that need help, but we believe that one girl/women at a time is enough to reach the entire community. When we lift-up one, she lifts-up another, and so on, we would reach many. Please help us make a difference in these lives!

We Are Back!

September 24, 2020

Dear Partner,

Thank you for your support and commitment to the work we do at our Restoration Project Resource Center.

Since our last Report, we have faced many challenges that had made us better and more effective. Thanks to you, we can continue giving our support to the population we serve. We were also able to add more services despite the global effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Your continued support will help us continue to provide support and services to our constituents. September 28 and 29, 2020, we would be bringing back our classes in Computer/Microsoft Office, and Financial Literacy, respectively. We had put a hold on these and other classes because of the effects of COVID-19. But now we are back to give them the most needed skillset.

We are also happy to announce that our classes in Data Entry and coding (Python Programming) will take off October 7 and 8, respectively. We are bringing these classes to our population for FREE to give them tools for obtaining gainful employment in the computer field. We are all aware that online workers are in high demand, most businesses would need people to enter data into their system. We believe that giving these skills and tools to our population is amounts to economic empowerment.

Please support our efforts to change the lives of survivors of trafficking, domestic violence, asylees, and refugees. If we fail to help these individuals, we would be leaving them to continue in their traumatic lifestyle with their abuser and remain in perpetual bondage.

In the past, we have produced 23 computer literate survivors and immigrants who now work remotely. One of our graduates now works as a navigator, helping members of her community to navigate systems for services. We have seen survivors and victims turn their lives around through the economic resources we provide. Empowering them economically gives them a sense of belonging in the community and a shift in their economic status.

We cannot do this without you! Together, we can help our community navigate away from the hardships and disruptions of abuse and COVID-19. We can ALL make a difference in these lives!

We Need Your Urgent Support!

July 27, 2020

Dear Partner,

July 27, 2020

Dear Partner,

Thank you for your support and commitment to ensuring that we successfully carry out our mission!

As you are aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected the world. Our community of survivors are not excluded from the global struggle to survive. One of the inevitable changes we see in this new era is the delivery of services and products; businesses have gone to virtual environment. To mitigate the effects of covid-19 on survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence, we initiated our Virtual Program Expansion to deliver services. What this means is our classes are now delivered online. Our next classes in Computer/Microsoft Office, Financial Literacy, and Business Coaching begins in September. We already have 3 survivors waiting to take these classes. In addition to these we added classes in Coding, and Social Media-messaging, sales, and marketing. Our FREE classes train survivors in new skills, and re-train others for advanced skills to make them work-ready and competent to work in this era of automation.

Our classes have produced 23 computer literate survivors and immigrants who now work remotely. One of our graduates now works as a navigator, helping members of her community to navigate systems for services. In the past, we have seen survivors and victims turn their lives around through the economic resources we provide. This gives them a sense of belonging in the community and also a shift their economic status. Classes enhance their ability to compete with others in the economic world for sustainable income. Having an income keeps them away from trafficking and also helps them to make the right choices. Over 25 individuals have graduated from our skills program; 2 got new jobs, one got promotion on her job, 4 people were enrolled into internships/volunteer programs to sustain their skills, one started Uber driving, another started an internet weight-loss marketing, and while 2 took these skills back to their communities to give back.

We cannot do this without you! Together, we can help our community navigate away from the hardships and disruptions of COVID-19. We can ALL make a difference in these lives!
