Provide Education for Refugee Children in Lebanon

Dear Friends,

This academic year is exceptionally thrilling!

It’s started with a lot of new challenges: a new syllabus, new trainings for adults and more beneficiaries.

And until now, we’re proud to say that we manage rather well!

We have nearly 150 students divided into 8 classes based on their knowledge, academic level and ages. All of them (and their families) still benefit from our psycho-social support program.

We’re quite pleased by the way we handled this year's new changes and challenges and already have new plans for the next year.

Every year we’re able to help more and more people in needs, and this is only possible with your support.

On behalf of the entire team, we sincerely thank you for your generosity and for your solidarity with the children.

See you soon at Insan School!

A thrilling development

Dear Friends,

After a successful implementation in the Bekaa valley, we’re actually developing our project, a lot!

Thanks to your many donations we’ve been able to hire a relevant team dedicated to the project.

The bus is now used at its full potential, every day of the week.

The medical part of our project is in on the verge to begin. Some nurse will visit the camps soon to make a need assessment and a doctor will join them in the next few weeks. Our bus includes a private part, ideal to welcome the patients. Thanks to our previous visits and the bound that we created with the camps inhabitant, they will open their houses to the psychologist and the social worker to continue their work.

Now that we can spend more time and fund on this project, we’re starting an expansion phase in the south of Lebanon.  But in the same time, the humanitarian situation in the Bekaa is so disastrous that we have to maintain an important presence here. We want to spend more time in the Bekaa, to increase our impact on the beneficiaries’ life before to divide our work in another area.

Our work with the children is starting to yield encouraging results. Indeed, we witnessed a change in their behavior. Their calmer, they feel safer, they’re more disciplined. But most of all, they start to play together, to trust each other; they share our game, instead of being in a consistent competitive state of mind.

Because most of them have experienced trauma and important distress, we can’t expect a quick result, but we’re already satisfied by the improvement of the situation.

A refugee camp isn’t a good milieu for kids to develop themselves and grow-up, but we’re proud to bring some stability in their life, even if it’s only a beginning.

With your donation, Insan has been able to offer to more children an access to a psycho-social support and purchase needed equipment. We’re counting on you to help us on this amazing adventure and to be able to help them on the most efficient and holistic approach as possible.
On behalf of the entire team, I sincerely thank you for your generosity, for your solidarity, and for your support.

We look forward to bring you more information about our project.

Warm regards,

Insan Team

first day of the new school year and many changes!

Dear Friends,

After 3 months of summer camp, focusing on English lessons and girls activities, the school has resumed.

This academic year promises to be a new challenge that we’re happy to take up!

First of all, we’re planning to raise the number of beneficiaries to 145 children, while continuing to provide psycho-social support to the families. Ultimately, we will support 580 individuals residing in Beirut's suburbs this year.

In the same time, the neighborhood’s situation changed a lot since the previous year. Due to the progress of ISIS in Iraq, many families found refuge in the Beirut suburbs, especially near our school.

Consequently, we have to adapt our project to fit their situation, needs and expectations.

We’re going to double our efforts to help the families to cope with the living conditions in Lebanon through a psycho-social and legal support. But we also have to keep in mind that most of them are going to leave abroad as refugees. Therefore we must also prepare the children and the families to understand the difficulties they’re going to face and how to overcome those obstacles.

We will continue to bring the best education we can supply to the children with English and Arabic lesson, mathematic, sports and arts, but this year we will also add some lessons about the history and general culture.

We will also continue to organize workshops for the parents to help them to be involved in their children's school life and education, but this year, we’re also adding a preparation to their resettlement in a third country.

Last year, we had managed to organise different extra-curricular activities (theatre, sports competitions, visits to the museum, visit to the aquarium, ect…), and noticed the positive impact it had left on the children, specially that the majority don’t have the opportunity to participle in these kind of cultural activities. Therefore, we plan to continue organising such activities for this academic year as well.

This year holds a lot of challenges but also a lot of opportunities to improve our services and the living condition of our beneficiaries.

Now more than ever, we need your help and support to implement this amazing project, to continue in providing high quality education and assistance to the families of refugees in Lebanon.

On behalf of the entire team, I sincerely thank you for your generosity, for your solidarity with the children of Insan School, and for your support to Insan’s projects. See you soon at Insan School.

Warm regards,

Insan Team
