Report of free transportation services

Roundtrips Report
Roundtrips Report

We are pleased to present our first report for this project at GlobalGiving, Free Transportation for 45 Children with Cancer (and MPS) :

This report covers the first 6 months of the year, from january to june:

Our transportation covers more than 30 locations, not all of them are covered daily, they change according to the patient.

The majority of active patients arrive every week, others every fifteen days one more each month. When they start their treatment they must arrive more often for their induction.

At some point in their protocol they attend outpatient chemotherapy or hospitalization, so they stay in the hospital.

There are no routes defined as each patient has a route and if on the day of their appointment they can not not go to the hospital then their parents change the date to another day, so our driver is in direct and constant communication with them.

We have two units, one transports to 15 people, the other up to 7. Our free shuttle service is from Monday to Friday.

In these 6 months they traveled 34,721 kilometers and more than 5446 liters of gasoline were consumed.

But we need of your support to continue granting the service in an uninterrupted manner. These patients mostly live in about 40 rural (marginalized) localities, in addition their parents have other children and do not have the economic resources so that they can go weekly to receive their treatment of chemotherapy or hospitalization to hospital of medical specialties, several hours away.

Thank you

,

Second report of playroom activities

Celebrating the day of the child
Celebrating the day of the child

Today we will talk about the activities we have done in the playroom, especially on the day of the child that here in Mexico is celebrated on April 30.

The playroom is open for patients from 9am to 3pm from Monday to Friday. When they arrive at the hospital, they know they can go directly to play, watch a movie, read and paint cartoon and talking.

The children have their computer and more teching materials.

We have links with psychology students, who have asked us to carry out activities for children. We have participated with the friends of UNIDEP in the children's theater.

They had two events here to celebrate the day of the child, the 20 and 28 of april.

This is a project of permanent attention and thanks to sensitive and caring people like you can be carried out uninterruptedly. We sincerely hope to have your support again, THANK YOU SO MUCH

Grand opening of the of playroom

Dana and Eunice having a nice time
Dana and Eunice having a nice time
We are very grateful for your support to our project because thanks to it today the unit of Psychooncology and Playroom is a reality for them, our children and adolescents with cancer who are cared for at the Regional Hospital of Coatzacoalcos Doctor Valentín Gómez Farias. The Unit and Playroom will be gradually supplemented with books, magazines, videos, toys, table games, computer (next report), Xbox (we are mounting it in a mobile unit), creativity kits, so that boys and girls have several options to spend a pleasant moment.
They have started taking some school subjects led by psycho pedagogues, the subjects are requested by their parents and teachers are beginning to implement their support by getting to know the children through talks on them in their schools, what is what they are needing.
We are equipping the office for the psychologist and research office and working on how we are going to provide meals since we have provided them with food in the hospital dining room.
We will also continue here with a research project where specialists determine the psychological profile of each patient and their parents who wish it, with subsequent sessions of graphotherapy. Specialists have some profiles of patients and parents and they will continue with the other ones but now in the research office in this Unit.
Also children already had class of painting before with us so we want to mount an exhibition with their art here to motivate them.
Once the unit is 100% equipped then we will schedule the activities with the different specialists and volunteers.
This is a project of permanent attention and thanks to sensitive and caring people like you can be carried out uninterruptedly. We sincerely hope to have your support again, THANK YOU SO MUCH
