Lorry expresses her thanks
Festive greetings from the Sihanouk Hospital Center of HOPE (SHCH) and thank you for supporting our project. Your donation is helping people living with HIV (PLHIV) in Cambodia to access support for medication, nutrition and social welfare services.
We are pleased to share the good news about our client, Lorry, 37, who has been living with HIV for five years.
A year ago, Lorry was struggling to cope with her illness, physically and emotionally. She had given up taking her medication because she could not tolerate its side effects and had lost all hope of having her life back. She no longer cared if her illness took over. Lorry was too sick to work and relied on her mother's meager income as a cleaner to support her own needs, and those of her four children.
Eventually, Lorry was hospitalized in extremely poor physical and mental health. Fortunately, as she emerged from her critical period, Lorry enrolled in our support program and, until recently, received home visits from our team three times per week. The team provided health education to help her manage her medication plan, and offered counseling and social other supports while she returned to better health.
This was a new beginning for Lorry. As her health improved, she began looking for a new job and last month, started working in a garment factory. ‘My life is more meaningful now,’ she said. ‘I was so sick before and I had to rely on my mother. Now I can support my children while they go to school…I feel like I want to fly!’
You can help more help clients like Lorry to thrive again. This giving season, please consider making a donation to our project and give hope to those in need.
Thank you for your support and best wishes for a happy and safe holiday season.
