True Dedication for children

Ms. Jayshree with certificate

It was a fine example of dedication and good work that won Jayashree from Bal Asha Trust praise and recognition as the “ideal mother”.

The Public Health Department of Mumbai Municipal Corporation organized a healthy baby contest where attention on general appearance and health of the child was of prime consideration. This competition was held in March 2016 in which a 6 year child from Bal Asha Trust was chosen as the Healthy Baby for the year 2015-2016. A certificate to that effect was awarded to the child and Mrs Jayashree was awarded the "Idol Mother" certificate by health officer of the G ward.

Jayashree is one of the oldest and most dedicated staff members of Bal Asha Trust and has been working at this institution for the last 24 years. Initially she had been working as a nurse in the children’s ward then in a supervisory capacity and now as a superintendent. She is also in charge of the children’s medical problems which include preparing physical examination reports, consulting with doctors regarding various tests surgeries care and problems of the special needs children and follow-ups.

Today she has become a mentor to other nurses and caretakers teaching the importance of quality care for destitute children which is the core value system of our organization.   Today the home has 48 children.  The children are upwards of few weeks old.  Most of the children are special needs like HIV, Hep B, Global Developmental Delays, Deaf etc.  We have a dedicated team which provides the best quality care to the children with the support of donors like you.

To support us please do consider making a donation.

The team and children of Bal Asha Trust received Ms. Kavita Mathew from GlobalGiving on Saturday, 16th January 2016 at our destitute children's home in Mumbai.

We were very happy to receive Ms. Mathew as this was a first visit from the GlobalGiving team to our organization. This visit from GlobalGiving team member gave us an opportunity to introduce every detail of our work for children.

We shared that how children come to our home.  We also shared our routine on day to day basis which helps us give quality care to children care, food, clothing, educational and medical etc.

We were very pleased to know that Ms. Mathew had noted our earlier project reports especially of children who had received whose surgeries were performed.  We introduced her Mary (Report dated 04.03.2015) and Shreya (Report dated 15.09.2015). Ms. Mathew was very happy in spending time with the children and enjoyed the interactions.  We were very happy to introduce her to our staff members who have dedicated themselves to the work for children.

Ms. Mathew also guided our team through various tools available at Global Giving platform for charitable organizations to enhance their skills to benefit the project.    This was very helpful for our team members.

The day ended with our request to Ms. Kavita Mathew to mention her thoughts in our guest book. She wrote

“Dear Team Bal Asha

A secret Santa sent gifts for the kids
A secret Santa sent gifts for the kids

Dear Friends,

The children & team of Bal Asha Trust wish you a Happy New Year 2016 !

The last week of the year 2015 was full of fun and frolic with christmas celebrations.   The children enjoyed by putting up a christmas tree with lights and decorations.

The highlight was when a Santa coming and distributing gifts for each child. A gift of their choice.

There was a volunteer Ms. Priya Menon who conducted a interactive craft workshop with the children.  The children enjoyed their time.

The Bal Asha Trust team hopes that with your unstinted support, we can give quality child care and support to vulnerable children in the years to come.

Please consider starting a recurring donation for 2016 to our project however small it may be... it will help us to plan support to the children in our care.

Once again wishing you and your family members a fantastic new year..

Thanks and Regards,

Bal Asha Trust team
