Open Learning Exchange, Inc.

The Open Learning Exchange (OLE) envisions a world in which every person has open and unfettered access to those learning resources they need in order to flourish to the very best of their abilities. OLE's mission is to ensure learning for all - not only universal basic literacy and numeracy but also vital knowledge and skills concerning health, nutrition, work, community and the peaceful management of our differences. Only then will we be able to eliminate the widespread poverty, injustice, violence and fear that are pervasive today and to provide the foundation that will make it possible for us to create a free, peaceful and democratic world in which each one of us has a voice that is ...
Send the TIGER Girls on their first field trip!
The TIGER Girls are a network of young change-makers who are learning together in OLE's program in the Za'atari Refugee Camp in Jordan. When we visited the TIGER Girls in June, they said they most wanted a field trip to explore the world outside the camp's walls. Make their dream come true - help us fund a field trip for the girls, during which they will visit a historical site in Jordan and present the latest TIGER community projects to leaders in Amman.
TIGER Girls-Educating Syrian Refugee Girls
Adolescent girls in Zaatari are dropping out of school at a dangerous rate; only 20% achieve a secondary school certificate. TIGER Girls (These Inspiring Girls Enjoy Reading) will enable 1,200 Syrian girls, supported by Syrian female coaches, to participate in team-based learning, increasing their personal sense of agency, meaning and connection. Using an open source multimedia library, this community-based program will motivate adolescent girls either to stay in or to return to school. project reportread updates from the field
Girls Learning Library | Mathare Slums |Kenya
OLE Kenya proposes a program for youth empowerment centered around skills acquisition. Working with existing community centers, The Girls Learning Library will provide opportunities for girls in Mathare slums to enhance literacy and numeracy skills while also reinforcing positive educational outcomes. The program will be centered around the OLE Personal Learning Platform and will utilize the OLE learning methodology that shifts the role of the teacher to that of coach and mentor.
Support Somali Learning Network for 1,200 Children
Somali public education has suffered from conflict and instability. Less than 20% of primary-aged children attend school. OLE Somalia is creating an Open Learning Network to solve this problem. Volunteer Community Leaders in five Somali villages will use OLE's low cost digital server with 10" tablets to provide more than 1,200 young learners and their families access to thousands of open educational materials and courses. The pilots' results will be used to expand the Network for all Somalis. project reportread updates from the field
