Learning Happens Year-Round

Prepared for Success
Prepared for Success

Midway through the year, as students return to their classrooms after a long break, many are returning unprepared with the tools to learn. How can students fully participate in the classroom if not having school supplies is a constant threat to their education? Family Giving Tree understands that poverty is not seasonal.  Listening to the teachers and administrators, we discovered students run out of supplies within the first 6 months of the school year, with teachers attempting to fill the gap with what little supplies they have.

Knowing the needs of those in the community are present year-round, with your generous donations Family Giving Tree works with schools to restock classroom supplies through Teacher Boxes. These boxes filled with extra school supplies will give students the tools needed to participate in the classroom. As one parent from Dorsa, an elementary school we partner with, explained, “Donations are tools for success.” Thank you for your continued support in their future.

Holiday Wish Drive 2015

My Wish Came True!
My Wish Came True!

As we look back on another successful Holiday Wish Drive, we wanted to take this opportunity to say, “Thank you for bringing priceless joy and happy memories for years to come!” Your generosity fulfilled the exact wishes of over 72,600 children and individuals in-need. You understand that delivering a specifically wished-for gift to a child in-need makes them feel valued and remembered by their community. It gives them something of their very own to cherish; knowing they weren’t forgotten.

Vanessa, 10, from Community United San Jose, “Family Giving Tree is great because they help families who don’t have enough money to buy gifts. I got a Pillow Pet which is exactly what I wished for.” Briana, 7, “My wish came true when I got my scooter.”

Together we better people’s lives through the power of giving and bring the community closer during this season of sharing. We love being able to show you the moments your generosity creates.

Delivering Holiday Joy

What I wanted for the Holidays
What I wanted for the Holidays

For families living in poverty, the holidays are not a time of celebration. They are a painful reminder that, in a valley of immense wealth, they go without year-round. As wishes come in to our database, we too are reminded of how little they have; many wishing for basics such as bedding, shoes, clothes, and warm jackets.

A life in poverty means instability, disappointment, and saddness. A gift during the holidays brings immeasurable joy and stability to their lives. Giving a child in-need the exact gift they wished for says, "You matter" and shows them the community cares for them.

We can't do it without. As we prepare for our 25th Holiday Wish Drive with a goal of fulfilling 75,000 wishes, consider fulfilling the wish of a child in-need and providing them with the joy of the holiday season they don't often feel.
