African Entrepreneur Collective

African Entrepreneur Collective (AEC) is a new, innovative solution to systemic unemployment in Africa. While many organizations promote entrepreneurship through training, business plan competitions or incubation, few of these interventions actually lead to job creation. AEC's ideology is powerful: equip existing entrepreneurs, people who have already demonstrated success at a small scale, and support them to grow their enterprises to create jobs for others in their communities. Within the next year AEC will work with 100 entrepreneurs in Rwanda. Within the next five years AEC will expand into two additional East African countries and work with a total of 700 young entrepreneurs, expan...
Accelerate young Rwandan entrepreneurs

This project will enable African Entrepreneur Collective to support one cohort of 20 young entrepreneurs in Rwanda, and provide them with the tools they need to help them grow their businesses and create jobs for others. AEC's two-year business accelerator program offers support in the areas where entrepreneurs need it most: capacity building, mentorship, technical assistance, and access to flexible, low-cost capital. We expect these entrepreneurs will create 500 jobs for their communities. project reportread updates from the field
Entrepreneurship Support for Refugees in Rwanda

In October 2016, Rwanda will pilot an innovation in refugee relief that, if successful, could have wide-spread impact. Instead of receiving donated food and supplies, nearly 40,000 camp refugees will receive cash stipends. These households will regain control over their finances and act as normal consumers. Where there are money and consumers, there are business opportunities. AEC will work with refugee entrepreneurs and provide them with capacity building and financing to launch enterprises. project reportread updates from the field
AEC is expanding to Tanzania!

Since 2012, African Entrepreneur Collective has worked with nearly 200 entrepreneurs in Rwanda, providing them with training, mentorship, technical assistance and direct financing. To date, our entrepreneurs have created more than 700 jobs and are transforming their communities. Based on our success, we are expanding to Tanzania! Through a partnership with a local agency, we will work with 50 social entrepreneurs in the Kilimanjaro region to bring economic opportunities to their communities. project reportread updates from the field
