Project updates

As a response to the current health and economic emergency, Kito continues to support the indigenous Mangyan people in the island of Mindoro.

During these months, children have been our primary target in order to provide concrete help to their families. Our organization has indeed engaged in the donation of paper, inks and other school supplies in the elementary schools of the rural areas. It is aimed at facilitating the distance schooling, by promoting the education of the pupils living in the poorest districts of the country.

Additionally, Kito has distributed food and hygiene kits not only to children families, but even to those lacking the basic needs, to improve the health and well-being of the local community.

Since the current crisis is seriously affecting the indigenous population, further vulnerable due to the recent natural disasters, our interventions play a crucial role in supporting these people.

Thus, the main objectives of the project are not only to tackle the Coronavirus emergency, but also to improve the future social, economic and health conditions of the Mangyan community.

Project updates

In these months of Covid emergency, we provided a support to the Filipino population in the Mindoro Island.

We produced 3.000 masks and we distributed them among the indigenous population in the rural area.

With the beginning of the school activities, we supported the teachers with paper, inks, tarpaulins and tablets so they can develop the distance schooling.

Unfortunately, in the Philippines we are still in partially lockdown, so we have to do a lot. Our Feld Manager Anna is working to support our beneficiaries with hygiene kits e food.

Our project will contribute to successfully overcome this emergency, avoiding a further spread of the virus among the local populations, and improving their life expectancy. Furthermore, our interventions will relieve and encourage a feeling of security to the many families psychologically exhausted by the emergency circumstances.

The project is complete!

We are happy to announce that we completed the project!

We have been faced with the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic, which caused some slowdowns to our job. Notwithstanding this health emergency, with due precautions and where possible, we have been able to make progress. Our work indeed is aimed at promoting hygiene and avoid the spread of diseases.

All the 13 Elementary Schools now have the toilets and the water access. The beneficiaries, the pupils and the teachers, are happy and all the community can take advantage by this project, which can provide water and basic hygiene to the island.
