We are so thankful for the generosity you have shown these past six months. Who knew this COVID reality would last as long as it has and with no clear termination in sight. All of the support you have given us has gone to support our programs for the most vulnerable families in San Miguel.
Thanks to your help we were able to provide 1,000 masks to our families, purchase an electronic thermometer to regulate temperatures, provide groceries once a month (with the help of Feed the Hungry) and conduct wellness checks on our students.
Paty has been working hard to make sure no student loses out on early childhood education. Her reaction to this situation and her ability to conduct the necessary outreach to our families has proven her value and why she is our Executive Director. She has worked tirelessly with the teachers to ensure a smooth transition to distance learning for our young ones.
Distance learning officially started in September with each class meeting three times a week via Zoom. Paty and the teachers designed a program where students receive materials, learn online and submit their work virtually. Be happy to know our kids are continuing to learn and are loving every minute of it! Check out our new blog post about it and ways to help here.
We hope to have good news regarding the daycare and in-person classes for January 2021.
Stay tuned to what's to come!
Saludos a todos,

Education During a Crisis
By Rachel Frey, MPH - Development Director
This pandemic has showed us that education is vital as many children today cannot go to school. As many of you know, we had to suspend classes at our daycare and preschool to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families.
Thankfully, our preschool program continued through distance learning. Teachers prepared weekly tools and resources to implement educational activities. Parents were provided with materials, calendars, and teaching tips to ensure our students were still learning. This means that parents had to dedicate their time to educating their children instead of working.
Because of your donations we made sure CILA families didn't have to worry about losing their monthly income to buy basic needs like food and cleaning materials and could focus on the education of their children.
The first five years of a child’s life can have a serious impact on their overall development down the road. We want to ensure the consequences of this pandemic will not affect our students' futures.
With your continued support we will provide our students with excellent education through distance learning while supporting our families basic needs to do so - keeping everyone safe.
We will keep everyone posted on our progress and reopening of the daycare as soon as we can.

Thanks to donors like you last holiday season we raised above and beyond our $5,000 goal. Because of your help, Centro Infantil was able to provide essential items to families, toys for kids and even year scholarships to students in need of additional economic support.
This fundraiser increased awareness, help engage new individuals and gained valuable support from donors across the globe. We are thankful to have such great supporters who value our work and the services we provide to low-income families here in San Miguel.
Since the end of this fundraiser we have seen our children grow and learn in new ways. Gael has learned all his colors and can speak more clearly. Chris turned a year older and celebrated his birthday with his entire class. Vicky graduated into a new classroom where she is learning at a faster speed. These children all succeeded because of individuals and families like you who know the importance of early childhood development.
