Letter from Adnan

Dear all,

Nothing is more rewarding and encouraging than being surrounded by wonderful people, especially under challenging circumstances. I wanted to thank everyone for the great support and care I have received from you to attend the Sarajevo Symposium. I am so grateful for the great amount of love, cooperation, flexibility, and generosity that everyone showed to make this event a reality for me. I cannot emphasize enough how important and useful the Sarajevo Symposium on Post-Conflict Transition was for me, particularly when my city of Mosul is passing through this phase now after the war is over.

With the knowledge that I gained from this event, I will be able to actively participate in a peaceful transition process in the city of Mosul mainly through education. The lectures that we had throughout the two weeks in Sarajevo were so dense in information and experiences about real-life examples on conflict resolution and transition. I was so lucky to meet and receive knowledge from prominent figures in the field of peace building and policy-making. Moreover, in each class, I could identify with and relate to the experiences shared by the speakers and the participants. Now I feel equipped with the necessary theories and practical and beneficial solutions to help support the peace process in Mosul.

I would like to express my gratitude again for all the donors and supporters who contributed to cover the costs of my participation in this event. I would also like to thank the International Peace & Security Institute at Creative Learning and the Sarajevo School for Science and Technology staff for their support and wonderful organization of this event. I look forward to helping to host a similar event in Iraq and particularly in Mosul. Thank you for yourgenerosity and giving me such a wonderful experience. I would love to reciprocate if you are ever in Iraq. Thank you!

Warmly,

Adnan

Training Peacebuilders

Creative Learning would like to thank each one of you for your gracious donations. We were, unfortunately, unable to raise enough funds to help Prem attend the Bologna Symposium this year, but your investment has helped contribute to similar scholarships that have helped others like him attend the symposium.

We hope to continue to provide support for exceptional applicants, such as Prem, in the future and will strive to advance peacebuilding skills wherever they are needed to address today’s global issues. Each participant is trained in the conflict prevention, resolution, and reconciliation skills and knowledge needed to make effective change within their community.

Success! Sending Adnan to the Sarajevo Symposium

This week Adnan will receive his visa to attend the 2017 Sarajevo Symposium! Creative Learning would like to thank you for making this opportunity available to him. We are also excited to have someone with his background and experiences contribute his insights to the group this summer.

Thanks to your investment Adnan will have the opportunity to build a support network with people with similar passions and commitments to serve their communities. Adnan will be equipped through lectures from transcending experts, including: Hind Kabawat, Member of the High Negotiations Committee at the Syrian Peace Talks; Dr. Sabina Cehajic-Clancy, Associate Prof. of Political Psychology at the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology; and former President of Croatia, Prof. Dr. Ivo Josipovic. IPSI staff will also be available to Adnan and the other participants to help them plan and execute long-term goals.

Through simulations, exercises and lectures, the Sarajevo Symposium will offer valuable trainings on topics such as police reform, reconciliation, the role of the private sector in transformation and UN missions, among additional skills necessary in post-conflict transitions. The Sarajevo Symposium will send Adman home with a new set of skills, confidence, networks and a tangible vision for his community in Mosul, Iraq.

While Conflict Resolution leaders can offer a framework for peacebuilding in conflict-stricken areas, we need more representatives from various professional fields and cultural backgrounds to engage in conflict transformation in their community. Your investment has allowed us to make this training accessible to locals like Adman who would not be able to participate otherwise.
