YOU CAN HELP A WIDOWED FAMILY TO HAVE A SHELTER

Enabling a widow family to improve the condition of living by providing an affordable home, which costs $998 is unforgettable gift to an entire widowed family; a home that accommodates a family of 7 to 10 people. Providing a home to a widow and needy family will help reduce the expansion of AIDS and the mortality of unprivileged children occasioned by the present conditions of their living. A home is one of the most important things that contribute to the good living of a human being.

Until the time I am writing this report, 6 houses  of the 100 houses we plan to build for 100 widowed families in Buganda have been completed.  94  widowed families and orphaned children still need shelters, where they can live in security and peace. We continue to hope that donors and friends will enable us to provide shelters to those widowed families and complete the construction of 100 homes, as it has been planed.

We continue to hope that donors and friends will enable us to provide shelters to the other 94 widowed families and make them smile again; a smile that gives hope for tomorrow.

Until our project is fully funded, we will be sending you regular reports about our work. You'll know what your donation has helped fund, what accomplishments we have achieved and what our current needs are.

With much thanks and appreciation to each of ours donors and friends who are helping us complete this project.

THEY CONTINUE TO HOPE

                                                     THEY CONTINUE TO HOPE

A home is one of the most important things which contribute to the good living of a human being. There is no safety, health and peace without a home. A home is the most intimate space we inhabit; it is the centre of our daily existence, where our most significant relationships are built. To lose this place, it disturbs and affects physically and relationally. Each one of us can understand the effects of physical and relational victimization. You can now imagine how much is painful for those who lost their homes on February 9th, 2014, due to a torrential rains and landslides that have left at list 100 people dead and over 1000 houses destroyed in the northern areas of Bujumbura, Capital City, including Carama location where JRMD helped 786 families to build 786 houses whom their homes were destroyed during the ethnic ware in 1993.

Despite the suffering situation of lack of shelters, food and clothing that the survivors of the February 2014 torrential rains and landslides are still going through, their hope is still alive that one day, they will have access to the shelter where they can live. This project is about building 100 houses for 100 families in Carama, to provide shelters to the survivors of the Sunday, February 9th, 2014 torrential rains and landslides.

Until our project is fully funded, we will be sending you regular reports about our work. You'll know what your donation has helped fund, what accomplishments we have achieved and what our current needs are.

Thank you for showing your solidarity with them,

FIVE YEARS OF OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH GLOBALGIVING

                                                                July 2013-July 2018

Our partnership with GlobalGiving started in July 2013, just one year after we opened Iwacu Kazoza School. In brief, GlobalGiving helped us motivate our donors by providing matching funds opportunities and making donations online through GlobalGiving.

During the 5 Years of our partnership with GlobalGiving, we raised $137,402, donated by 341 donors, from which total amount $97,972 was raised by JRMD and $39,429 driven by GlobalGiving.

I am very thankful to GlobalGiving and our donors and friends, and friends of friends who are making their donations to help JRMD continue provide education to  the underprivileged kids, schooling at Iwacu Kazoza School.  This was only possible by joining hands together to build the society and the world we want, that each one of us is longing to belong to and live in.

Because of you, today, Iwacu Kazoza School  is providing education to 500 underprivileged children and counted as one of the best schools in Cibitoke province even in the country of Burundi of the schools providing  qualitative education. This is a good result of your work and our work together.

TESTIMONIES:

Mr. Nicizanye has three children schooling at Iwacu Kazoza School, he said: “If this school could not have been here, my three children could not have a chance to go to school.  Now I can hope to see them complete  their education and have a good job that will enable them to help themselves and care for our poor family in the future”.

Mr. Leonard Nijimbere is a leader of Ruhagarika (chief) village, he said: “ What privilege to have this school near by and within our community, in which our children can have access to education without traveling far away, as it used to be before”!

Currently we need to purchase and repair student’s desks and buy school materials. we have been very fortunate to have received $2000 of the $3972 needed to purchase and repair student’s desks for the upcoming school year which begins 6 coming days, thus Monday, September 3. We are very much in need of $1,972 to help complete the purchase of 85 student’s desks and repair 68 that are not in good condition.

In addition, 182 orphans and underprivileged children are in urgent need of school supplies, totaling $15X182= $2,730. In total, we urgently need $1,972+2,730=$4,702.

We give thanks to our donors and GlobalGiving for making possible the education of these children, who could not have access to education without your financial help and prayers.
