Established in 2011, WEEMA International is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit nongovernmental organization working in southwestern Ethiopia. Our mission is empower Ethiopian communities through clean water access, education, economic opportunity and health care - all driven by local champions and community collaboration. The word weema has great meaning in the local dialect where our work initiated. It means something all encompassing, as well as conveys an expression of optimism, hope, and wholeness.
