Children with volunteers/donors & senior citizens
Children with volunteers/donors & senior citizens

On the Christmas Eve, the student volunteers who are also the donors took our children to a senior citizen home. There the three generations celebrated the Christmas. The children were very happy to spend a day with the elders and the youth. They gave cultural events, participated in games, partied and returned home joyfully.

On March 24th, the birthday of Britto, one of the children in home was celebrated by a team of young donors in our home.

During the last three months (Dec2014- Feb2015) we received a donation of $366. Out of this $146 is used to buy a water heater for the children. The scanned copy of the bill is attached. The remaining amount is paid to the loan creditors. There is still a balance of $20210. This can be settled only with the generous donations from you people. We are also taking efforts mobilise donations from the local community and we want to settle the loans at the earliest.

For this we depend on people like you who have been continuously supporting us not only financially but also morally. We request you to kindly spread words about our work to your friends and relatives.

Thanking you once again.

We need your support

Viji (name changed) is in Women's Special Prison, Trichy.  She is life sentenced as she murdered her husband.

Yes, Viji killed her husband! Viji entered her husband's home with lots of dreams after marriage. But she was beaten by her drunkurd husband everyday. He used abusive words. She was blaming her destiny and was distressed. When she could not drag on anymore she went to her brothers and complained about the brutality of her husband. Her brothers got angry and fought with her husband. The husband abused her brothers too and Viji was much annoyed. She lost her control and beat her husband. In her outrage she killed him and realised that only after some time. She got arrested, life sentenced and spending her youth in prison. Anger in that spur of the moment spoiled her entire life.

New Life trained Viji in tailoring and she could stich blouses and skirts now. She now has the confidence that she can earn her living once she goes out.

Women like Viji, who commit crimes on the spur of a moment or for safeguarding themselves or because of poverty are spending their time aimlessly inside the prison. The trainings given by New Life for developing their skills motivate them, give them hope and once they go out they get integrated with the community.

We thank you dear donors for helping these women to lead a normal life once they get out of the prison. The trainings you support increase their skill and confidence, the counselling given by the staff help them to face the community with courage. All this is possible only because of the continued support you give and we request you to spread words about this project to your dear and near ones.

With thanks and regards

She is safe now.

Valli praying before her meal
Valli praying before her meal

"I am the widowed mother of Valli (name changed) and my husband was a vandalist working for an unscrupulous politician. He was injured by acid poured by his rival groups and expired. My son work as agricultural daily wagers and the earnings would meet only the family expenses and rarely the repayment of loan. The money can hardly feed us all. We are seven in the family- me, my 5 daughters and a son.

I thought of stopping the last three girls' studies and send them to work. It was then New Life came to my and my daughters' rescue. The children were admitted in the New Life Home. They were provided with food, education, clothing, shelter and other daily needs with donors' support.

My third daughter completed her 10th standard and got married now. My fourth daughter aged 17 wanted to be trained in income earning and now earning for herself. My last daughter Valli is in the home now and studying 8th standard. Without New Life it would not have been possible for me to settle these children. Valli is happy and safe because of the support she received through New Life and donors like you. I can’t thank you enough for all that you have done for my children." says Banumathi.

Children like Valli are safe and happy only because of the support you give. We thank you for the same and request you to continue your support. Kindly spread words about our home to your near and dear ones so that these children grow as confident youth.

With warm regards
