Fundacion Leer

Fundacion Leer promotes reading and literacy among children in Argentina, creating lasting and positive effects in their personal development and helping them enter the social fabric. Since reading skills benefit educational processes, we intervene early so as to close the achievement gap between at-risk communities and their affluent peers. We offer globally proven reading programs to urban/rural schools, libraries, hospitals, and community centers, meeting vulnerable children's literacy needs.

Mission

Programs

We offer globally proven reading programs to urban/rural schools, libraries, hospitals, and community centers, meeting vulnerable children's literacy needs. Since the creation of our Foundation, and thanks to the support of countless companies and individuals, Fundacion Leer has carried out its programs in 23 provinces and in the City of Buenos Aires. 1,327,286 children have participated in these programs; 1,785,778 new books have been distributed; 15,780 teachers and professionals in 3,191 schools and community centers have received training in 794 locations throughout the country. We opened 2381 children's libraries nationwide. Through their participation in the programs of Fundacion Leer, children and youth read more often and at a higher level, improving both their verbal and writing skills; they are able to speak in public, discover reading as a pleasurable activity, improve the quality of their schoolwork and understand the importance of reading in their personal development.
