Books for the blind children are very necessary

Dear friends!

Thanks to everyone for the support of the project Create Braille Books

for 1000 Blind Children!

Our children need very much your help and attention to our project. During the reporting period we created 4 new Braille books in Ukrainian language, 2 in English language. These books were received by 50 children from Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Lutsk, Slavic, Kyiv – Ukraine

In July our resource center "World at Your Fingertips" together with Polish partners held a seminar for mothers and visually impaired children from all over Ukraine. Within 5 days, 30 mothers with children studied methods of work with books and embossed patterns, learned to produce tactile aids. Together with their mothers Center specialists have designed and manufactured a tactile book "Matryoshka" for the development of motor skills of children’s hands. At the end of the workshop, each family was presented with a set of books and tactile aids.

We are impressed by the successes of our blind readers. Their number is constantly growing.

In August, the project work has been aimed at preparing literature for students. It is the second year as we support the three blind children who are studying at secondary schools attending inclusive program. For them, we adapt the necessary literature in Braille. We printed didactic manual in Braille for the mathematics lessons in primary school. Now blind children will be easier to remember the multiplication table.

Currently we are preparing for the opening of the first in Ukraine “Bookshelves for all" in the children's library and a bookstore.

Dear donors, we hope to impress you with our progress more and more! Please follow our updates and project reports and support us again! Our Blind children need the books! They want to read!

We take participate in the international exhibition

Dear friends!

Thank you all for your support!

We appreciate your donations that you provide to our project and help the blind children learn new things, learn how to read and study, enjoy the book s and share great tales with their peers.

More than 5 new Ukrainian-language books for children were adapted for Braille readers.Children who are visually impaired are now enjoying Braille books, improve their reading skills, share the stories and discuss the tales with their sighted peers.

The most remarkable event during the reporting period was the participation of our Braille Studio in the 6th International Exhibition of books - "Book Arsenal" in Kiev. Famous sculptor Julia Segal has designed the well-knownsculpture of Louis Braille specifically for our exposition on "Book Arsenal". Children enthusiastically touched his sculpture. They got acquainted with the person who invented Braille font.

For the first time Ukrainian books for the blind children designed for All (Braille with relief drawings) were presented along with the books of well-known publishers. At the exhibition the little blind readers learned about such book as "Cap and Keith," "Pumpkin year", "Nesluhi veredul". They got acquainted with contemporary Ukrainian writer Katerina Babkina and Larissa Nitsoy, the children asked question with enthusiasm and joy.At the exhibition "Book Arsenal" we presented the well-known tale of blind writer and traveler Vasiliy Yeroshenko "Close cell" and "Eagle's soul." His books were written in Japanese and translated into Ukrainian by Julia Patlan/

On May 17, 2016, we have become partners of the Kharkiv Literature Museum duringthe festival "Eye to eye", the aim was to overcome negative stereotypes when dealing with sighted and blind people. Our organization was responsible for the children's program of the festival.

Children got acquainted with new books published in Braille, draw, play board games with their sighted peers. Parents learned to make tactile books, got acquainted with the experts, tried to read and learn patterns with their eyes closed.

We are excited about our progress and echievements. We shaere them with joy! And we are especially happy that the visually impaired children are now able to enjoy the books, wonderful tales, their lives became more joyful and happy!

Dear supporters, thank you for your support again and please follow progress, support our projects again and share our stories!
