What we do every month to inspire the youth!

Alternative action sports by Chris
-Kalemba International Skim Comp- Thanks to Tchiyna Matos from Kalemba Skimboarding (youth development through skimboarding) for inviting 5 South African skimboarders (one female) to this awesome event. We stayed in an awesome place and received such good food. The wave at Cabo Ledo in Angola, 3 hours drive out of Luanda, is amazing. Overall the event was an unforgettable experience.

The local skimboarders were really inspired by the international skimboarders.

Four South Africans competed in the pro devision. I placed 3rd out of 8 contestants. Michael Brosnihan from Durban placed 2nd and Hugo Santos from Potugal won the contest.

-Kia World Extreme Games- It was a privilege to go to Shanghai for the 6th year in a row and to have Earl Abrahams join me. He is a good friend and a fellow South African rollerblader. We both had a great experience. He placed 13th and I placed 7th. I had an ankle injury but people back home prayed for me and I barely felt it in the finals. We would also like to thank all the great people who supported us to go.

-School Holiday Camp1: Kogelbay- This was the first I2B skimboard only camp. We normally go to places that has skate parks. Seeing that the skimboard clubs have grown we are able to do skimboarding camps now. This is very exciting because South Africa has many camp resorts right next to beautiful beaches and it is normally very affordable. The kids from the clubs are very privileged to get to camp at these awesome places. At Kogelbay we skimmed a lot, made a camp fire, had a braai and worshiped the Lord. Three kids decided to commit their lives to Jesus.

-School Holiday Camp2: Langebaan- This was a three day camp for skating and skimming. We stayed in bungalows that were walking distance to the beach and skate park. We had time for some good chats and another three kids also committed their lives to the Lord. One guy even said that it was the best three days of his life.

-The I2B Skate Park, looking for a generator- We are very happy that the I2B skate park in Somerset West at Radloff Park is making progress thanks to Stefanutti Stocks Marine. The concrete floor for the skate park is done and is looking great. The next phase is to set up and fix all the old ramps. We are in need of borrowing a generator until the municipality has setup our electricity point. Please let me know if you can perhaps assist us in getting a temporary generator. Thank you!

-New quarter pipe for Strand skate park and I2B Strand Skate Club.

-I2B T-shirt sponsored for the Paarl Christian Skaters Comp.

-The Somerset West I2B Skate Park gets a fence- The municipality supports the I2B project in Somerset West where we are in the process of building the "head quarters skate park" for I2B.

-The National Christian Skaters/Surfers Conference in J-Bay- This is definitely a high light of each year. We get to take some members from each of our clubs on this road trip. They have to get some money together themselves and I2B does the t-shirt fund-raiser for this trip. We stayed at a campsite in J-bay where the conference was also held. There were morning and evening sessions with awesome worship. The afternoons was mostly open for skim, skate and surf. I believe all of us received so much out of this trip. Learning more about God, each other, the country and our sport. We really want to thank everyone who supported us to go. May God bless you! They guys got to see and experience many different beaches, towns and skate parks, some of it were:
Knysna Skate Park: The Yard

J-Bay Skate Park: The Element Park

-New ramps, 2013 is here!- We built some smaller ramps for outreaches and demo's. We are hoping to build some great ramps this year for the youth!

-Protective gear for kids!-

-I2B Gordon's Bay skim club is growing fast- This club started with a bang. It went from 3 members to 13 to kick-start the year.

-Inspired2Become visits home town- A sure highlight for I2B since we started end of 2010. Fanie and I have been wanting to give back to our "roots" for a long time. We had the privilege of visiting our old high school, Hentie Cilliërs, in Virginia in the Free State on Friday morning 25 January. We shared our testimonies, showed some video clips and I did a rollerblade show. Some more pics below.
