We are thrilled to announce that we have secured full scholarships for 200 more impoverished boys and girls! At Smile Liberia’s formal luncheon in Liberia on Saturday, May 7, 2016, which marked the the kickoff of the Send ‘em to School Project, patrons and supporters pledged to sponsor up to 200 children through the 2016 – 2017 school year and until they graduate elementary school. About 50% of the beneficiaries will be children who have never been to school before. The other 50% will sponsor children in six different community schools where we currently operate.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Last month Smile Liberia donated a reading room to the Deki Early Learning Foundation, one of our beneficiary schools in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, Liberia. The room will be used as both a mini library and a literacy development center for the impoverish elementary school of approximately 100 boys and girls.
Smile Liberia provided children reading materials for various grade levels from K - 5th grade, as well as bookshelves, tables, and chairs. The Deki reading room is the first of Smile Liberia's plan to provide a reading room for each of its beneficiary school.
All funds and reading materials were made possible by loyal supporters like you!
Over the summer, we got busy collecting school supplies and sanitary items for the kids we support in Liberia. We are happy to report that the supplies made it safely to Liberia and the team distributed them to six schools in impoverished communities. Most amazingly, the team had to travel across the St. John River, via canoe, to distribute supplies to our newest beneficiary school, the Edina Public School. Edina is a small rural town located outside of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County in Liberia.
We want to express our deepest appreciation to everyone who continues to support the cause and our goal of building a school for children living in poverty.
