Goats and Seeds Provide Endless Opportunities

Alice is one of our goat project beneficiaries.  Alice cares for her five grandchildren.  All they have is each other and they have experienced horrible pain, loss, hunger and illness.  If not for the young children, Alice would have given up long ago.  However, this beautiful family was given a second chance.  And they are thriving!  The goat project has given them many opportunities to provide their own food, medicine and fees for school.

Alice is very happy with Baylor Uganda for supporting her family under the AFCA project.  She tells us, "I was supported with seeds and given goats as well.  My livestock project is doing well and I am also getting manure for my farming.  Great thanks to Baylor Uganda for selecting me and for supporting my family."

Everyone here at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS, and our partners in Africa, thank you for your continued support of this important project.  If you would like to learn even more about this project and others, please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@AFCAids.org.

Lifesaving Drugs for Rachel

Rachel is 7 years old and was receiving treatment for malaria at another clinic in September 2019.  During routine testing, Rachel tested HIV positive, and was referred to Baylor Uganda for HIV management.  Her mother claimed to have tested HIV negative when she was pregnant with her and declined to be tested.  She was later educated on the need for her and her husband to be tested.  They both tested positive and are now under the care of a doctor.

While at Baylor, Rachel was diagnosed with acute malnutrition, pneumonia and tuberculosis and started on treatments.  While still on TB treatment, she progress to advanced HIV with chronic lung disease.  She was started on medications which were never stocked, but we were able to use funds from the American Foundation for Children with AIDS to procure lifesaving drugs for Rachel.  The pneumonia was treated and she completed her TB treatment in June of this year.  Rachel is now stable and her mother is very excited about her progress and her ability to return to school after the COVID-19 lockdown.

Everyone here at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS, and our partners in Africa, thank you for your continued support of this important project.  If you would like to learn even more about this project and others, please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@AFCAids.org.

Liza and Missy Return to School!

Donna is HIV+ and so is her husband, Ralph.  Donna is thrilled with Baylor Uganda for supporting her family within the AFCA projects.  She was supported in both the livestock and agriculture programs.

Ralph and Donna were given seeds and goats.  They started a small banana plantation.  Farming produce allowed them to buy two additional goats to boost their livestock project.  And the livestock project is currently giving them manure to improve their banana plantation.  Donna thanks Baylor Uganda and AFCA for supporting her family and her community in general.

Liza and Missy, are just 8 and 10 years old.  They have seen a change in their parents and their life.  Their family was struggling to find food and shelter.  Their education was forgotten in the midst of turmoil.  Thankful for your generosity, they now attend school on a regular basis.  The livestock and agricultural programs saved their education, and their lives.

Everyone here at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS, and our partners in Africa, thank you for your continued support of this important project.  If you would like to learn even more about this project and others, please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@AFCAids.org.
