Strengthening

In this new cycle of Arrumacos 15 children attend from 8 months to 3 and a half years old. New children have begun a process of stimulation and integral development, where through the game, a balanced diet and timely rest, a balanced physical and emotional development is motivated.

Early childhood is essential for the development of the human being, since physically, it requires rest, balanced feeding and medical care, and emotionally, it requires being in a safe space, feeling cared for, loved and protected.

Arrumacos is a space that continues to provide more children with quality care, comprehensive development and participatory training.

Identity

During these months, intervention with children has been characterized by identity as a group. Personally we all have an identity, which is reinforced with the birth certificates and official documents that each person is generating in their life, however, we also have collective identity and one of Melel Xojobal's work objectives is to promote the community and the protagonism of them in the meeting spaces.

Through group games and activities, it has been possible to determine the three names, of the three organized groups of girls and boys:

1- Cheerful girls and boys from Merposur

2- Girls and boys workers, weavers and craftsmen of Santo Domingo

3- Girls and boys workers of the Cathedral

Having a group name is as important as a proper name, generates identity and desire to build a more just and equitable society from reality itself.

Diagnosis

In these months, in Melel, we have set ourselves a challenge: Make a diagnosis about the situation of the children of our city.

Although our work is a constant analysis, we have decided to carry out the process aimed at knowing reality more deeply.

Thus, through games and recreational activities, we set out to inquire about those situations, causes, and consequences that violate the rights of girls and boys in terms of identity, education, health and defense of rights, among other analyzes.

Why is your name your name? What is the birth certificate for? Is it important to go to school? What do children need to live well? What injustices live daily? These, and more questions, were those worked in the weeks of diagnosis with the children of Merposur, Catedral and Santo Domingo.

We are eager to share the results! What will all this tell us?

In the next report, we'll know ...
