Mission

The mission of Chain Of Hope is to end suffering and overpopulation of animals in the urban core of Kansas City, Missouri through outreach, educating pet owners on responsible pet ownership, supporting owners who have limited ability to pay for their pet's basic needs of food, shelter and medical care, reduced cost or free spay and neutering, and by rehabilitating, fostering, and securing adoptive homes for rescued animals.

Programs

Outreach is Chain of Hope's primary intervention. Outreach is provided 6-7 days a week, assisting 10-15 households every day. Volunteers search city streets, alleys, and abandoned houses looking for animals in jeopardy. Many are found at the end of chain, taken in from a neighbor's unwanted, unplanned litter, and left to grow un-socialized and without adequate basic needs. Many are dumped, abandoned, and left to fend for themselves. Education is a vital component of outreach; educating pet owners on how to be responsible in meeting their pet's needs. Thousands of pounds of donated food are given out every year to families who struggle to make ends meet. Dog houses are provided throughout the year, hay in winter months, and fly traps in summer. 10-12 animals are taken for spay and neuter a month. 10 - 20 animals are rescued every month who are moved to other rescue groups, fostered through a network of Chain of Hope foster homes, or cared for at Chain of Hope until adopted. Chain Of Hope is the only organization in the community doing outreach at this level, their boots are on the ground ending suffering and saving lives every day.
