Montessori for Rural Early Childhood Trainers!

Sewing lessons for little hands!
Sewing lessons for little hands!

Dear Friend of the Ibhabhathane,

Wow, we are super excited! Obtaining government training for our Early Childhood Development workers has been a huge stumbling block. We therefore started investigating in alternative training possibilities as training is essential to ensure that our children get the best quality care during this critical window period of human development. Especially in the poorest of areas where education is so neglected and the evils of poverty persists to prevail in its on-going-backwards journey.

After some research and implementing some of the Montessori ideas it was just astounding to see how  our children’s concentration improved, fine motor co-ordination developed while learning practical life skills and how positively the little ones respond to the well-organised and self-regulating activities.

Training though, is very expensive and we will call upon all possible support we can, to assist us in attaining our goal. We do realise that current economic times are tough and how carefully resources must be allocated to be effective. We have constructed a list, in order to assist you to contribute to our project, should you wish to do so, by means that will be affordable and doable for you.

Montessori Training, cost per child                      : $150

Montessori Educational Construction Material     : $50

Montessori Sensory and Real Life Material          : $20

Montessori Literacy Material:                                : $20

Seeds for flower, herb and veggie garden             : $10

Your assistance and support will make an enormous difference to a little child's life. Help us to make a difference that will have a positive impact for a life time! We look forward to your positive reply and thank you for the time you took to consider our project.

Warmest greetings

Yolande

YAY! More room for tiny toddlers

Older children very happy with the new arrangement
Older children very happy with the new arrangement

Dear Global Giving donors,

We are absolutely delighted to announce that we have two classrooms now! It has been such a challenge working with 31 small children, from age 15 months to 5 years old, in one confined room, wanting to do movement, art, music and all the other magic stuff!

Now each group has their own generous space to move and play about as well as a resting and eating space. Our children are relishing the new space and our staff are so much happier!

We are immensely thankful for this opportunity and have done our best to equip each classroom with sufficient furniture.

We do however still very much need small chairs, books suited for toddlers and art materials.

Global Giving donors have been wonderful in their support of the Ibhabhathane and we sincerely thank all for all you have given. Should you feel you would like to offer further support and contribute in any small or big way, please know that the impact you will make will be positive indeed.

As little as $10 will buy two chairs, $15 can buy 5kg bag of tempera powder paint and $20 a gorgeous picture book for toddlers. Your support will go a far way indeed!

Our sincere thanks

Yolande

Super climbing and clambering for Rural Toddlers

Enkosi - We say thank you!
Enkosi - We say thank you!

A climbing and clambering apparatus was installed on Tuesday, January 19th at the Ibhabhathane Community Centre.

Yet again, donations from Global Giving has realised the The Ibhabhathane’s vision to bring quality Early Years Education to poverty stricken rural villages in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

While going to a pre-school is the norm in so many countries across the globe, here in the Eastern Cape it is not. Millions of young children age 0-5 have very little or no exposure to stimulation, nourishment or nurturing which is so crucial during this window period of development. One out of every 5 children under the age of 5, dies because of malnutrition.

The Ibhabhathane’s vision to ensure that all children living in our rural area have access to Early Childhood stimulation, nurturing and nutritious meals is being realised more and more every day. Our community are sensing the change in children attending clinics, school and other community events. We are making a difference.

We therefore thank each and every one of you who has taken the time to invest your resources in this project.

And we urge you not to stop, tell friends and family and keep doing the good work. One little child’s tuition, care and nutrition is less than $50 per month. Support this project and realise the change we would like to see.

With sincere appreciation

Yolande
