Programme Officer at GlobalGiving UK

The Programme Officer role is an exciting position for someone eager to use their project coordination and relationship building skills, has a passion for international development, and a desire to grow GlobalGiving’s impact in accelerating community-led change. This role requires someone who thinks creatively, seizes opportunities, adapts by listening to citizen and sector feedback, and has the confidence to be an external champion for our work.

You will be part of a small but mighty team based in London, with colleagues based in the United States, India, and China. We care about using our time, talents, and energy to change the development system by putting people first. The Programme Officer will work with the Programme & Partnerships Manager to deliver a varied portfolio of projects, including coordinating an international volunteer programme, supporting country representatives as they deliver in-country programmes effectively, supporting project management and reporting, and working with our team to design new projects and seek funding. The Programme Officer will need to be open to working flexibly across a small team, able to manage competing priorities, and happy to step in to support colleagues when opportunities arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and lead on key activities for programmes strengthening civil society—building the capacity of smaller community-led organisations, nonprofit network development, organisational sustainability, and philanthropy
  • Support in-country representatives to meet their goals (e.g., develop a peer learning network and enterprise skills programme for nonprofits in Nepal)
  • Coordinate our Evaluation Programme, ensuring our skilled volunteers have the support they need to thrive with our project partners overseas
  • Be the first point of contact for external project delivery partners
  • Collect and analyse data and manage reporting to funders and others
  • Contribute to the design of our civil society strengthening and philanthropy programmes working with senior leadership to embed and scale approaches
  • Contribute to our external communications through blogs, articles, and events
  • Attend relevant meetings and events related to programmes and represent GlobalGiving
  • Contribute to the conceptualisation and preparation of funding proposals
  • Research potential funders and develop proposal concepts based on research
  • Contribute to proposal writing to foundations, government, and companies
  • Support colleagues (in London and globally) on other activities as needed


  • Experience coordinating projects with internal and external stakeholders cross sectors
  • Experience working with external clients and building productive partnerships
  • Ability to work with remote colleagues to achieve results
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to summarise data and insights succinctly and quickly
  • Experience and interest in writing funding applications
  • A confident networker with the ability to present our mission in a compelling way
  • Enjoys multi-tasking and can prioritise key tasks
  • Experience of working on projects that involve one or more of the following is desirable: charity capacity building, training or facilitation, policy, volunteer management, partnerships with funders or government
  • Comfort with digital systems and using technology for social good

Salary: £22,000 - 25,000 pro rata + 5% pension contribution following successful completion of probation period

Contract: Fixed Term for 1 year (with potential for extension)

Working hours: Full time (37.5 hours per week)

Location: Central London (WC1N)

Line management: Programme + Partnerships Manager
