Senior Manager, Donor Growth and Customer Experience

GlobalGiving is looking for a Senior Manager to develop and execute a strategy to grow GlobalGiving’s individual donor base. This position will leverage our digital tools and offerings to increase donations to our community of nonprofit partners and support GlobalGiving’s growth.

This position will be THE voice of over one million individual donors - one of three key stakeholder groups at GlobalGiving alongside our nonprofit partners and corporate partners. You will apply a deep understanding of their interests and behaviors to create an exceptional experience that motivates giving. In this role, you will work closely with the Product and Marketing teams to drive online & offline giving efforts through strategic tactics that are aligned with industry best practices.

You will leverage internal data, donor insights, and market knowledge to make donating via GlobalGiving delightful, habitual, and rewarding. You will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing the end-to-end donor experience to inspire repeat giving and brand loyalty. Ultimately, your work will drive growth, helping the organization meet its goal to drive significantly more funding to community-led projects around the world for vital causes such as disaster recovery, access to education, and child protection.

Primary Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute an individual donor fundraising strategy that meets organizational metrics and engages these donors in a best-in-class giving experience:
      • Grow, cultivate and steward the strategy so that it results in increased community growth and a better experience for donors (nearly 1.4M people all-time, both online and offline, individuals and corporate affiliated).
      • Plan and activate giving strategies to motivate donors in partnership with GlobalGiving’s Marketing and Program teams.
      • Identify and execute savvy and cost effective solutions for achieving acquisition, retention, and engagement targets.
      • Analyze and continuously improve success rates of our offerings to donors, and optimize the fee structure and add-on contributions.
      • Track, analyze, and report results and outcomes to staff through clear, accessible communications.
    • Identify areas for increased engagement and relationship building with individual donors (below $10,000 in donation amount), ensuring an exceptional experience.
      • Discover, research, and thoroughly understand donor needs and map those needs to the value propositions for GlobalGiving’s set of offerings.
      • Serve as a point of contact to individual donors, sending acknowledgments and thank yous to donors, focusing on stewardship and donor recognition.
      • Track and manage donor profiles in CRM database.
      • Explore the potential for new engagement strategies such as peer to peer fundraising, thematic funds and/or giving circles to increase donor engagement and affinity for GlobalGiving.
    • Bring creative and innovative ideas for engaging donors to support GlobalGiving’s aspirations for growth.
    • Analyze the competitive landscape and position GlobalGiving’s offerings for individual donors within it.
    • Discover and validate opportunities (both existing and future donors), including prioritizing among new market opportunities.
    • Consider traditional fundraising methodologies (e.g. direct mail) and identify cost-efficient ways to test the engagement of the offline donor audience.
    • Work closely with the Product Team to lead the ideation and execution of product enhancements that drive growth in donations.
    • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Team to support a lifecycle marketing strategy and map existing and ideal donor journeys.

Required Qualifications

For our team to be a great fit for you, the following qualifications should resonate with you:

    • At least 6 years of experience in a growth-oriented position focused on individual donor fundraising or sales, ideally in the nonprofit or e-commerce space.
    • Experienced in building and implementing strategies that meet revenue or fundraising goals. Preference for individuals with experience working at the intersection of product, marketing and donor teams.
    • Technical expertise with email marketing and CRM software such as Hubspot, Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or something similar.
    • A track record of success using web analytics and other data sources to discover trends and inform donor segments, product development, and positioning.
    • Demonstrated outstanding organizational, project management, people and communication skills; previous experience with donor relations or customer service preferred
    • Ability to communicate ideas effectively, to listen to others' ideas, and to collaborate to arrive at great solutions.
    • Demonstrated success managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines in fast-paced, high-growth, evolving environments and ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
    • Experience contributing at a leadership level, in leading and influencing change internally at all levels, across the organization.
    • Strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit and positive attitude. Must be able to be flexible/adaptable.
    • Experience setting and managing budgets for teams or programs.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition, the ideal candidate would also have some or all of the following qualifications:

    • Bachelor's or master’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and/or training.
    • A continuous learning orientation (as demonstrated through professional development.

Salary + Benefits

Starting salary range: $85k - $100k.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Vice President of Growth and will be filled remotely for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. Once in-office operations can safely resume, this role can either be based in GlobalGiving’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. or continue to operate remotely, as long as most of the workday overlaps with US/Eastern time. If you intend to apply as a remote-worker, be prepared to speak about your experience with remote employment in the recruitment process.
