Director of Business Partnerships

GlobalGiving, the first and largest global crowdfunding community for nonprofits, and a key partner for companies from Apple to Zynga, is looking for a proven and accomplished pro to become our Director of Business Partnerships. You’ll be joining the management team of an established, growing social enterprise and leading a group that contributes a critical source of revenue and impact for our organization.

You’ll be collaborating deeply with our prospecting team, and all internal teams, to ensure an unparalleled partner experience.

In this position, you’ll be a player/coach—both setting strategy and personally identifying, developing, and maintaining trusted relationships and building new business models with our clients to drive adoption of our products and services and contribute to our mission of accelerating community-led change.

Our team is based largely in Washington, D.C. and London, but some members are remote or in the field—from Richmond, Virginia to Shanghai, China.

This position is based in our Washington, D.C. office and reports to the Chief Business Partnerships Officer. The Director will serve on GlobalGiving’s management team and lead a team of 6-8 superstars.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy: Develop and lead strategy for GlobalGiving’s business partnerships team. You’ll be accountable for revenue goals—both retention and upserve/upsell—for a client-facing, tech-enabled set of products and services.
  • Manage: Lead our team to ensure flawless program delivery and exceptional experiences to all partners, especially long-standing, complex relationships with Ford Motor Company Fund, Facebook, Nike, 3M, and others. Oversee development and execution of partner strategies.
  • Contribute: Identify, cultivate, close, and own 5-10 high-visibility and potential partnerships directly.
  • Public Speaking: Be one of GlobalGiving’s external representatives, and attend events and conferences to increase GlobalGiving’s visibility and thought leadership in the corporate social responsibility and giving spaces; be a subject matter expert regarding key trends in CSR, ESG, and related strategies and trends.
  • Operations: Provide leadership on planning and operational realities of delivering against commitments, including revenue forecasting, ensuring pricing frameworks are appropriate, interfacing with program delivery teams on things as basic as invoicing and as exciting as creating new product offerings.
  • Product Development: Based upon changing and competitive industry landscapes, develop strategic product and communications recommendations and then lead teams to drive product development, process improvements and goal attainment.
  • Team Culture: Create and maintain an environment of excellence and camaraderie, including with our UK-based partnerships team. Lead by example, and provide coaching and management to a team of business development and partner management professionals.
  • Core Values: Contribute to organization-wide strategy and people development, demonstrating a near-fanatical adherence to GlobalGiving’s core values.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, either in nonprofit tech sales, corporate partner management or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience managing and growing a successful, high-performing team of professionals
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to spot new product and customer solution opportunities
  • Knowledge of the CSR landscape, key players in the industry, and belief that multi-sector solutions are needed to solve society’s greatest challenges
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Bonus points for bringing existing relationships with companies or foundations with high potential to become GlobalGiving partners
  • A commitment to GlobalGiving’s mission and a sense of humor are essential; A love of good food and dogs for extra points.
