GlobalGiving is an innovative organisation that is transforming aid and philanthropy, with an aim to rebalance power and decision making so that communities are in the lead of change. GlobalGiving’s ability to innovate at scale is underpinned by its financially self-sustaining business model, and collaborative grant-funded work.
Established in 2002 in the USA as a nonprofit foundation, GlobalGiving launched the first global fundraising platform, supporting community-led nonprofit organisations by connecting them to donors and other funders.
GlobalGiving UK was established in 2006 as a registered charity in England and Wales with the aim of extending the visibility, reach and impact of the GlobalGiving mission by mobilising resources and support for nonprofits from a UK base.
Although GlobalGiving UK is an independent charity, it operates an integrated governance and operating structure with GlobalGiving Foundation.
As GlobalGiving celebrates its twentieth-year anniversary this year, over $600 million has been donated by donors to date supporting over 30,000 nonprofit projects in 175 countries across the world.
In 2022, we will recruit one or two new members to our UK Trustee Board to support us at a critical stage in the organisation’s growth. Due to the close relationship with our US sister organisation GlobalGiving Foundation, the new board members will also be required to join the global board. Both boards meet once a quarter.
Our current UK board chair will be leaving us this year after nearly 7 years supporting our work and we will be looking to one of the new trustees to take on this position by the beginning of 2023.
Our board members should have a passion to transform the effectiveness of aid and philanthropy to eliminate the systemic barriers hindering bottom-up, community-led, change.
One of our primary goals for the next three years is to grow brand recognition with Corporate and Major Donor prospects across the UK and Europe, enabling us to increase our impact with our global nonprofit partners and to grow our UK operations. Therefore an understanding of either market would be extremely helpful
