Please tell a story about a time when a person or organization tried to help someone or change something in your community:

A Woman Who Chose To Pay Close Attention To Children With Learning Disability

Mrs Vaid Karita had a nephew who suffered a cerebral malaria attack at just eight months old and went into coma for three days. 25 years later after going through the hands of several doctors, her nephew's life improved tremendously and she started leading a normal life. Such close relations with people with disability prompted Vaid's choice to dedicate her life to work with children with unique physical and mental challenges. She started advising parents not to bow to the pressure of stigma from the society; and told them to allow their children to interact with other children, talk, share and attend school functions. Mrs Vaid is now a special needs teacher at Nairobi Jaffery Academy, and she receives funds and unwavering support from the Kenya Institute of Special Needs Education.
