Please tell a story about a time when a person or organization tried to help someone or change something in your community:

Change For The Future

In our home area in Mwalie village, drinking was valued so much. I wondered why they honoured such kind of traditions. The village had become a sleeping village lands were left untilled and nobody cared about it. I had become a usual matter people drinking at eleven o'clock in the morning. The village administration had heard some of the residents pleas since there were some brewers who put into the brews some toxi chemicals and the villages death toll had increased spontaneously and had contacted a non-governmental organisation (VIJANA KWA WAKENYA) to hold a meeting with the people in order to advise them on the demerits of alcoholism. This organisation through 'CHANGE FOR THE FUTURE' programme held a two-week educational project on the effects of alcohol taking and its effects on the country at large. Experienced doctors and health practitioners advised people on the many diseases that alcohol brings to our bodies and how it posses a strain on the economy. In barely, two weeks, things had changed and many people started refraining from the alcohol dens and instead participated in the cultivation of plants to increase agricultural out put.
