Ecological Sanitation Technology

chemical fertilizers are the mostly used fertilizers in farms in mumias.These has led to toxication of our soil with more chemicals.In the year 2007 an organisation known as Kwaho that deals with water and health brought to the community a new technology of utilizing human waste as manure for subsistence farming.The technology most commonly known as ecosan ie Ecological sanitation facility is a latrine that has provision for collection of human feaces and using it for gardening after decomposition.At first,many villagers were not at home with the idea,it took the organisation more efforts in awareness and trainings to convince them the advantage of the technology.Today,the technology is being utilized by schools in mumias and is yet to be embraced by the community.
