Please tell a story about a time when a person or organization tried to help someone or change something in your community:

Touched To Volunteer For The Hurting

My name is Hilda Mng'alo. As a result of the demise of my parents 6 years ago, the darkest side of life in the whole of my experience began to manifest itself. I had even contemplated taking my own life when township Self Help Visited me. They found me that day on the streets of Kakamega with a baby. They were two ladies and one was a social worker. I was so moved in the way they talked to me with concern and a heart of feeling. After i explained and they learned of my desperation, they quickly committed themselves giving me some money and promised to see again that week. True enough they did. This time they had clothes. They also gave me some pocket money before counselling with me. They didn't have a place where they could take me to immediately but later worked with WEDEP to ensure that i was taken good care.
