We believe in helping those less fortunate than ourselves. Sometimes the person in need may work where I work. He or she may sit across the aisle, down the hall or in a warehouse or factory. This fund could potentially assist hundreds of hard-working Americans, their spouses and children by providing grants to help pay for household expenses when they're faced with an unexpected hardship like a house fire, serious injury, serious illness, cancer or even death.
Nearly 3 million American families faced foreclosure in 2009. Bad health is one of the leading reasons families go into foreclosure. An accident, serious illness or death in the family can create major financial strains on a family, which can eventually lead to foreclosures, homelessness and extreme poverty.
This project will help families facing unexpected emergency hardships by providing a stopgap and support when short-term financial assistance is needed to clear a financial hurdle created by an accident, serious injury or death.
Finally, there is help for working families that live paycheck to paycheck. Too often, we see families forced into poverty due to an unexpected emergency. We can help the men, women and children of these families keep their homes, stay in school, and improve their communities by reducing the number of foreclosures and evictions where they live.
