Core Grant-making at WFGM focuses on five areas: career development, job readiness, economic and financial literacy, nontraditional job training and entrepreneurship.
WFGM seeks to establish a stronger and long term sustainability of supportive services for women and children in the Memphis community through grantee agencies that provide career training and employment opportunities with a focus on wealth creation such as home ownership, good paying jobs with benefits, financial management, business ownership and investments. The goals of the core-grant making are to leverage WFGM's expertise and funding to provide opportunities to women and children.
The project funds an average of 30-35 programs, benefiting over 12,000 women and children annually. In 2012-2013, $630,000 was awarded to 33 programs. All projects are located in Memphis and Shelby County.
Over 12,000 women and children will be assisted with finding resources needed to become economically self-sufficient.
