Camp Forest is a wilderness day and expedition camp for children. Camperships assist families to provide a camp experience where children learn to respect, preserve and protect the environment.
Research shows that immersion in wilderness camping produces profound changes in self-concept, coping, initiative and relationship skills. Children in poverty($352-$652pwk/family of 3)have limited access to experiences that provide understanding of the world’s delicate ecological balance and help them become responsible active community members. Without such opportunities, these children are locked into the poverty cycle. Camperships pay all or part of camp expenses for these children ages 7-17.
Camperships provide poor children an experience that develops independence, creativity, and a passion for lifetime learning. Along with skills, the tranquil therapy of nature bestows an environmental ethic essential to a sustainable future on earth.
Camp Forest teaches love and respect for the environment and provides a safe place in nature, to grow, play, and gain an inner desire to learn. The impact of Camp Forest forms a foundation that lasts a lifetime and influences future generations.
