Weaving a new approach to poverty alleviation by 9th of July, 2014. Our aim is to become a Women's Weaving Cooperative to empower our members through community based learning and skills development and to create an alternative source of income for our Weaving sisters. In Bali artisans traditionally played an essential role in maintaining culture through the arts. In days gone past our grandmothers learned to weave before they were allowed to marry.

What is the challenge ? ROLE Foundation is a non-profit organization that is committed to educating the Disadvantaged and At Risk Women of Indonesia in sustainable skills, jobs and business practices. All ROLE's Skills, Job and Business Education for Disadvantaged and At risk Women come under the Bali WISE Program. Currently Bali WISE is teaching a program called 'Weaving Futures', which has proven successful in attracting our target students, who are local middle aged women.

Potential Long Term Impact
'Weaving Futures' objectives are to: 1) Generate independent income opportunities for economically and educationally disadvantaged women in Bali through cottage industry development. 2) Promote and preserve Bali's cultural heritage through the revival of traditional natural dye and weaving techniques. 3) Empower local women trough community based learning and skills development The Weaving Futures project builds on the ROLE Foundation's Bali WISE education programs to empower women.
