Water for Rural Africa

To All Donors:

Thank you, without your support we can not bless the children in rural villages in Africa with clean sustainable water.

Your donations have helped us save children lives through provision of clean water and sanitation.  It is now possible in some schools for girls to have equal learning time as boys since WCA has installed new sanitation facilities. Most girls of age skip school for a week during their cycle due to lack of wash basin and adequate facilities.  WCA has combined clean water and sanitation to address chronic outbreak of waterborne sicknesses.

Even though we have not met our target amount of $5600.00 for doing two schools this summer, one in Kenya and another in Tanzania.  We have already started constituting our team of volunteers to go to serve in the two countries in July 2011. $1000.00 will pay for water installation at one school; $1800.00 will pay for two latrines for girls and two for boys with a wash basin at one school.

On March 16th is a 30% donation match on all online donations up to $1000.00 per donor/project.  Please take advantage of this factor to increase the effect of your donation. Please encourage others to donate towards our project.

In this age children should not die due to contaminated water or lack of clean water. Please help us reduce this tragedy.

Richard and WCA Volunteer Team.

post report

Thank you, your donations and support through Globagiving enabled Water for Children Africa (WCA) to complete a rain harvesting water project at Muthwani Primary School in Kenya. A group of volunteers arrived in Kenya on July 24, and installed gutters and a 6000 litter water tank, a system that will provide clean water to 409 students at the school. The team brought with them School supplies and had an intern who remained in Kenya to install 2 latrines for girls and 2 for boys, each with a wash basin to address chronic sanitation issues. The intern is also installing a drip irrigation for a kitchen garden that will feed young children at the school. This will be a model school with WCA aiming at doing 100 schools as a pilot project in Kenya. WCA is very grateful for your donations.

On a separately funded project a group of 13 WCA volunteers went to Liberia in August and successfully drilled 2 wells in Monrovia which will provide clean water to over 17000 villagers. They also funded a third well 4 hrs outside Monrovia that serves another 4000 people. WCA has many unfunded water projects in different countries in rural Africa. Please continue to support us in the efforts of bringing clean water to rural Africa. WCA will do and name a project after you, your company, social club, group of friends... What do you think?

 Thank you for your support.

WCA is impacting many children and saving lives through your support.

Water for Rural Africa

Water for Children Africa (WCA) is fortunate to have partnered with Fatimoh and Globalgiving to raise funds to bring clean sustainable water to rural villages in Africa. Through this effort we have raised about $500. Although these funds are not enough to start a project, they will be pooled with other funds and a water rain harvesting system and storage will be installed at a primary school in drought prone Machakos region in Kenya at a cost of $900. A team of volunteers is training in San Diego and will be travelling to Kenya in July 2010 to install this water system.

WCA’s initial hope was to raise $6000 by July 2010 through Globalgiving. Half of the funds would go to install rain collection tanks in Machakos - Kenya and the rest to drill a well in Liberia, West Africa. Even though we are off by a large sum, WCA is grateful for every penny raised because it’s going to save children’s lives. Every dollar counts. Please help us reach our projected goal before the volunteer team leaves for Kenya in July and for Liberia in August 2010. Join us to save a child’s life through safe sustainable water. Donate today and tell a friend. Thank you to all.
