Summary
This project will provide water storage for families for more than 1000 families in 5 villages in southern Laos. Each 2500L tank will provide much-needed spring water for household use.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
This project will reach villages that do not currently have easy access to clean water. Women in these villages wake up at 3am to begin gathering bucketfuls of water and each trip can take 45 minutes. Compounded with other morning tasks such as cleaning and preparing breakfast for their families, a water storage system could save these women valuable time. With proper equipment, water can be piped in from the mountains and held in tanks for daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and bathing.
How will this project solve this problem?
Each 2500L water storage tank this project installs will give 10-15 families easy access to clean water. This reduces the pressure on village women to ensure that their families are provided for by giving them access to water at home.
Potential Long Term Impact
With sufficient funding, this project will provide access to clean water to 2500 families. This will reduce the burden on local women to spend hours every morning gathering potable water for daily tasks.
Project Message
Every mother wants to make sure she has water and food for her family. With your support, you can improve the quality of life for these women and their families, as well as their health.
