BFF will organize a two day conference of 15-20 Village Water Management Committees (WMCs) so that villagers may come together to discuss ways they've struggled and succeeded while managing their community water systems. This project will bring together these committees in order to share and learn so that they may better manage village water systems in order to have clean and safe water for all.
W.H.O. has reported that over 60% of the developing world's water systems are non-operational. This is due primarily to bad management practices-- which BFF is able to witness first hand while working in the field. The lack of good management of a village water systems leads to system failures, which force villagers to carry water from unreliable and unsafe sources-- bring a myriad of undesirable social and health effects.
Better Family Foundation (BFF) will organize a two day conference which will allow village Water Management Committees (WMCs) to come together and discuss the struggles that they have faced and how they have overcame those challenges. This will empower the WMCs to learn from one and other. BFF will also revisit the WMC training these committees have received as a brief refresher course. This will also allow the WMCs to give further feedback in order to improve future WMC trainings.
By facilitating this conference BFF will help at least 30 WMC members acquire the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively manage their water systems thus helping to mitigate the risk of water borne diseases. Entire villages stand to benefit from this exchange of knowledge and best practices.
