Dear TB Photovoice friends,
We know you believe that the work TB Photovoice does is important to the individuals and communities we assist around the world. This week we are honored to share that this belief has being validated in the global HIV/AIDS community. TB Photovoice has been selected to participate in the XIX International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012)in Washington D.C., July 22-27, 2012. We will be part of the "Global Village," a diverse and vibrant space where community gathers from all over the world to meet, share and learn from each other. It is a space for community to demonstrate the application of science and good leadership. It is also a space that invites conference participants to see how science translates into community action and intervention. Since TB is the leading cause of death among those living with HIV, and many of our groups support those co-infected with TB and HIV, this opportunity is the perfect fit for TB Photovoice.
The Global Village promotes networking between north and south, east and west and provides a space for displays, discussions and performances from throughout the world. The Global Village is open to the general public and conference delegates and admission is free. TB Photovoice will be provide an information table and be featured in the art gallery area. Together with our partners from Project Concern International, we will display photos and narratives from our various photovoice groups. If you happen to be in DC during this time or know of friends in the DC area, please come and join us!
On the Kenyan front, our partners at TB ACTION Group in Nairobi are figuring out the logistics of creating a sustainable group and are working hard to move the project forward. No one said that creating a TB Photovoice group is an easy process! It take perseverance, flexibility and commitment to see a project through. We are learning many lessons from our Kenyan partners and continue to support them so that they can reach out to their TB impacted community.
We are completing our strategic plan and gearing up for our 2012 development campaign. Thank you to those who are considering becoming TB Photovoice monthly donors. Your contributions are a wonderful gift and we are honored to have you along with us on our journey to lift the voices and messages of persons impacted by TB around the world.
All the best to you,
Sincerely,
Teresa Rugg
