As a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon for three years, Rugg discovered her passion for working on issues of health and poverty reduction. She received her masters degree in public health then worked as a health educator in health departments across the US. Rugg is a health education consultant serving diverse populations. Rugg volunteers extensively for RESULTS, an anti-poverty action group.
