Summary
Evacuation for those trapped by flooding and repair or replacement of fishing boats and nets destroyed by tsunami.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The sea advanced 100-200 meters causing serious damage along the coast. Hundreds of families lost their belongings and source of economic livelihood.
How will this project solve this problem?
The project will work to evacuate those residents still in danger from continued flooding. Clothes and food will be distributed to village families, and damaged fishing boats and nets will be replaced.
Potential Long Term Impact
630 families from 9 affected villages will receive food and clothing. Repairing 36 nets and 78 boats will restore the livelihood of 312 families.
Project Message
This may be the worst natural disaster in recent history because it is affecting so many heavily populated coastal areas.
