Summary
Search and rescue teams will look for survivors and victims of the tsunami while also distributing food to those displaced by the disaster.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
In the state of Tamil Nadu the town of Cuddalore is almost completely submerged. Efforts are needed to search for residents of this area and to bring supplies to those trapped or isolated by flooding.
How will this project solve this problem?
Teams will search for survivors of the tsunami and also recover the bodies of disaster victims. These teams will also distribute supplies such as food and blankets to those trapped by continued flooding and infrastructure problems.
Potential Long Term Impact
The team has already distributed food packets to over 1,000 people and recovered the bodies of over 2,000 victims. Search and rescue along with food distribution will improve the health outcomes for the communities in this area.
Project Message
This may be the worst natural disaster in recent history because it is affecting so many heavily populated coastal areas.
