By Kristen Kamp | BHI, Program Manager
BHI has planned two training delegations for 2013. These upcoming delegations will train local physicians in cervical cancer screening techniques. Approximately 800 women will be screened during these trainings. Based on experience, we anticipate 20 patients will require follow-up due to the suspicion of cancer. And, three women will receive a diagnosis of invasive cervical cancer.
These are the women your donations will support.
BHI's Patient Advocate, Ingrid, is set to pick-up with these women after they receive a diagnosis. Over the years, she has provided invaluable reassurance to women stricken by the fear of diagnosis. She will schedule treatment appointments and escort patients to them, set them up in the BHI patient house, cook for them, facilitate communication with their families, and altogether nourish to their return to health.
