In Moldova, orphaned youth age out of government-run orphanages at sixteen. Raised in institutions without parents to guide them, youth are unprepared to live as independent adults. Through CERI's Transitional Care program, youth are given the opportunity to continue their educations, learn a valuable trade, and receive counseling to deal with their feelings of abandonment and the risks of human trafficking. In the Transitional Care Program, CERI guides youth into independent adulthood.
The orphans aging out of Moldovan orphanages do not have the life skills needed to live on their own. Lack of education and self-awareness lead youth toward a life of poverty, crime and prostitution. In some cases, these orphans are preyed upon by human traffickers.
CERI strives to provide youth safety and a sense of security as they make the difficult transition from orphaned youth to independent adult. The Transitional Care Program provides the consistency and security youth need to help them through the critical years and greatest risks of human trafficking. Youth are taught how to take care of themselves in positive and godly ways and how to lead productive and emotionally healthy lives.
