Banana Farming

Map of BANANA FARMING Food security has been a challenge to people particularly in western region of Kenya. The Kenya agricultural research institute went on a research and trained farmers in lurambi area to new technology on banana specimen and farming. The farmers were trained under KAPP programme manage by the government department of agriculture and in the year 2006 the farmers embraced the technology and used local manure to plant bananas in their well managed farms. the following year in 2007 towards December, one farmer who was trained known as Mukali in sichirai sub location harvested a biggest bunch of banana ever from his farm. He reported that the technology is viable and relevant for more harvest. Read more.
