Promoting Confidence, Creating Leaders

ASHA Nepal focuses on women empowerment by targeting group mobilization, saving-credit, and promotion of sustainable agriculture in rural areas of Nepal.  The project focuses to promote confidence in women in decision-making, participation in social events, and economic and educational status.

Women used to be dependent on males for decision-making involving everything from household economics to social activities.  In order to transform the gender roles and increase the power of women ASHA has committed to the following goals:

  • Strengthen local leadership of women through formation and mobilization women groups by regularizing the group meetings and interactions.
  • Improve status of women in household-level decision-making process and their rights.
  • Create health awareness through their involvement in preventive, promotive and curative measures.
  • Promote sustainable agriculture and income generating activities to uplift the economic status of the women by raising awareness on sustainable agriculture approaches about the value of their local genetic resources, organic manures, indigenous knowledge and systems.
  • Retain their sustainable agriculture knowledge and promote the practices through proper resource management and ecological awareness using permaculture farming system.

It is because of your socially conscious donations that ASHA Nepal is able to work more effectively to realize their goal of increasing the power and confidence of women in household decisions and leadership positions. Thank you for your generosity!
