This project provides job training to 100 homeless youth in Portland, giving them skills and resources to find employment and build long-term self-sufficiency.
Portland's homeless youth encounter significant barriers to economic prosperity and self-sufficiency. New Avenues' job readiness training focuses on topics such as interviewing techniques, person hygiene, conflict resolution, critical thinking skills and resume development. Youth may access other services to enhance their employability: subsidized work experience, occupational skills training, paid real world work experience, as well as internships and job shadows.
We provide job training to homeless youth that gives them the skills to find living wage work opportunities,achieve self-sufficiency, and live independent lives off the streets.
The project will provide job training to 100 homeless youth, giving them the skills and resources necessary to obtain employement that will allow them to build self-sufficiency and end their homelessness.
