For the poor in rural Laos, healthcare is impossible to afford. This project seeks to improve rural health using traditional medicine as an avenue to educate and emphasize preventative treatments.
Focusing on the village Rehabilitation Treatment Center (RTC) in Vientiane Province, SEDA is combining traditional medicine with conventional preventative medicine to create a comprehensive healthcare system for the poor. Traditional medicine has the confidence of many rural communities and provides affordable services. Targeting HIV and other diseases affecting Laotians young and old, this project will upgrade treatment facilities and expand access to medicine, sanitation and education.
Enable the treatment of 1000 rural patients for health issues ranging from malaria, cancer and diabetes to HIV and war-related toxic reactions. Upgrade medical equipment, access road, water filters, patient accommodation, staff and training.
This project will provide affordable rural healthcare and preventative education for disadvantaged Laotians through qualified and committed traditional practitioners. The program can soon be expanded to include centers in north and south Laos.
